Join us for the summer camp presented by the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario and developed by Farm to School at Kemptville Campus Education and Community Hub where the students will have the opportunity to learn about the journey of their foods from farm to plate and innovate!
From Farm to Plate (weeks 1 and 3)
Throughout this week, students will have the opportunity to learn all about the path their food takes from the farm to the plate! They will build an educational garden to understand how to grow crops and will attend workshops on the transformation of their foods to understand how we eat our foods, as well as workshops about entomology (science of insects) and animal genetics.
Ag Innovation (weeks 2 and 4)
During this theme, students will learn all about innovation in regards to the agro-environment. The innovation possibilities are: build a vermicompost, manage the educational garden, design and build a small chicken coop and/or maintain an insect farm of crickets. Finally students will learn all that we can do to create value-added products such as fibers, wood and buttermilk from agricultural products.
