New this year! Our summer camps at Oka Abbey!
This summer, Farm to School will have the chance to offer 2 specialized day camps in the enchanting scenery of the Oka Abbey. A first, at this location whom has a rich agricultural history.
Our AgriCool Day Camp will welcome children from 6 to 13 during weeks July 8 -12, July 15-19, and August 19-23 (newly added), 2019. Daily and weekly registrations are available.
Our new educational project, the Young Bio-Food entrepreneurs Camp, will propose, to young people aged 9 to 14, an unique experience in the bio-food entrepreneurial world from July 8th to 12th, 2019 with 2 participations at Oka Abbey’s Public Market (2 saturdays in July 2019- dates to be determined). Weekly registration only.
What does a typical camp day look like?
9:00-9:20 am: Gathering and theme for the day
9:20-10:20 am: 1st activity
10:20-10:30 am: Moving towards the 2nd activity
10:30-11:30 am: 2nd activity
11:30-11:45 am: preparation for lunch, small active game
11:45 -12.30 pm: Lunch
12:30-12:45 pm: Moving to the 3rd activity
12:45-2:05 pm: 3rd activity
2:05-2:15 pm: Movin to the 4th activity
2:15-3:40 pm: 4th activity
3:40-4:00 pm: Gathering and theme review
4:00-5:30 pm: Dayare
How does the day care service work?
What are the times and cost of the daycare?
Daycare is available from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at a cost per week, of $25 for mornings or evenings, or $45 for both. After 5:00 pm, an additional charge of $2 per child per 5 minutes delay will be required.
It is possible to use the daycare on a per-day basis for $10/day.
Who supervises the children during the daycare periods?
Our instructors also act as supervisors for the daycare.
Are there outdoor activities?
Is it possible for my child to be in the same group as his / her friend?
Is it possible to visit the camp’s facilities before registering my child?
Is it really a bilingual camp?
Do you offer a transportation service?
Can I pay camp fees in installments?
Can my child be registered for each theme?
Is there a discount for registration of a 2nd child from the same family?

What is the counsellor/child ratio?
*For younger age groups, the ratio will often be smaller
Who are your employees?
Some camps will provide their own camp counsellors, while Farm to School will supply its instructors to lead activities, or train certain counsellors.
While participants will have the opportunity to interact with every instructor, counsellors are each assigned a specific age group to supervise throughout the week, during activities and also during breaks. All instructors are either students, or graduates of agricultural or environmental sciences, dietetics and nutrition, or education studies.
Will my child be with others of his/her age?

What should I bring on the first day?
- Comfortable clothes that can be dirtied
- A change of clothes
- Waterproof jacket
- Warm sweater
- Closed shoes (no sandals)
- Rain boots
- Hat or baseball cap
- Sunscreen (suggested to be applied in the morning before the beginning of the camp)
- Bug spray
- Lunch box with lunch, 2 snacks and a water bottle
Every child will have a specific place to leave their belongings throughout the week.
All personal effects must be identified with the child’s name. (Farm -to-School is not responsible for lost items.)
Lost objects will be kept in the Lost and Found box, And every friday between 3:00pm and 5:30pm you will be able to go over lost and founds. Please contact one of our camp staff for access. Please note that after September 30, all unclaimed items will be donated to charities.
My child will be 5 years old at the beginning of September. Can he/she partake in the camp?
Likewise, a child who will be 8 years old in September will be in the same group as the other kids of 8 years old.
